Ingredients:

  • 4 (6 oz / 170g) salmon fillets
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions:

  1. Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels. Season both sides evenly with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil shimmers, place salmon fillets skin-side down. Press gently with a spatula for 10 seconds to ensure contact. Sear for 4–5 minutes without moving them until the skin is golden and crisp, then flip the fillets carefully.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Push salmon to the side and add butter and minced garlic; sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the honey, soy sauce, and lemon juice. Let the sauce bubble and reduce for 2–3 minutes, using a spoon to continuously baste the salmon with the thickening glaze until it reaches a deep mahogany color and the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
